68 VITA Volunteers File Returns

Thank you to all of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers. Without you, we would be unable to provide free income tax preparation to Genesee County residents. Sixty-eight (68) volunteers were trained, certified by the IRS to greet, prepare or review taxes, and volunteered weekly from February through April.  Our VITA volunteers helped return thousands of dollars to Genesee County residents with their federal and state refunds! Thank you volunteers!

We would also like to thank our five tax sites for opening their doors for tax preparation. The Tax Coalition thanks the staff at Brennan Senior Center, Canaan Baptist Church, Flint Public Library, Mott Community College and the University of Michigan Flint for allowing our volunteers to work on site each week preparing tax returns. Thank you tax sites!

A successful tax year for local residents is due to the partnership between the United Way of Genesee County, our volunteers, local agencies and the Internal Revenue Service. Thank you everyone for your participation, patience, and assistance to provide free tax preparation for Genesee County residents.
