Loyal Contributor Spotlight

George Skaff

George Skaff, owner, secretary and treasurer of Skaff Furniture and Carpet, has been a long time loyal contributor and friend of our United Way.  He is a third generation member of the 98 year-old family business that started in downtown Flint as a carpet retailer and later became involved in furniture sales in the 1950's.

George became involved in the United Way early in his career as his father, Woodrow Skaff, was very community-minded and set a very positive example of why one should become involved in philanthropy.  He credits his father's interest in the United Way as a key to his continuing support through the years.

George recalled his association with Big Brothers in his youth and the support that was provided by United Way.
He has great praise for the United Way staff for their key role in providing expertise, support and presentations for his campaigns in the workplace.  He cites the use of the United Way video each year as an effective way of presenting the reason for giving and to get the message out.  George is proud to run an effective United Way campaign for his employees each year.

George's support is positively impacted because he has confidence that United Way has a good process for selecting the right programs for distribution of money to organizations with the greatest need.

We would like to thank George for his continued support and are proud to recognize him as one of our loyal contributors.
