April is Genesee Serves Month!

Genesee Serves, a program of the United Way of Genesee County, connects people who want to volunteer with organizations that need them. With the help of Wendy Spencer, then Chief Volunteer Officer for the United States of America, Genesee Serves launched in November of 2016. Since then Genesee Serves has been working to provide Genesee County volunteers and agencies with the resources they need to connect with each other. In February, Genesee Serves hosted its first training, Volunteer Management Best Practices.

The goal of Genesee Serves is to create a positive impact in Genesee County by building the capacity of individuals, organizations, and the community for meaningful volunteer service. Genesee Serves is committed to cultivating a community where there are diverse opportunities for everyone to volunteer and service feels within reach for everyone. All volunteerism is valuable: from the classroom to the boardroom, from one-time events to yearlong national service, from youth groups to retirees. There is a role and a pathway to serve for everyone.
