"Since becoming a member (of the Bridges Choir) I have changed as an individual. I am able to get along better with other students and gained self-confidence."

Bridges Smiles
From time to time the Bridges Staff will share a story about our Bridges' kids to brighten your day.

Today's story comes from Tracy Bennett, Bridges Faciliator:

One of the after-school programs at Hill is flag football. The club consists of 26 boys and 6 girls and by the end of the regular school day the students are quite excited about playing flag football and with that excitement brings the not wanting to quiet down for attendance. On this particular day I tried all of my usual quiet down methods; 5,4,3,2,1, Sponge Bob, pattern clap etc. and still could not get my little darlings to quiet down so I could take attendance. At this point I crossed my arms an leaned against the wall waiting to see if anyone would notice and much to my surprise I started hearing shhh ,come on you guys, shhh, you are wasting football time. The kids actually started looking at the student who was trying to get them to quiet down. I then said, " Evan do you have something you would like to say to your fellow team mates?" and his reply was "you guys Mrs. Bennett has that I am old look right now and when you are old like Mrs. Bennett  you get patient and can wait a very long time and she will wait because she is old!" Well by this time I am laughing so hard on the inside I am about ready to fall over but calmly I say, "thank you Evan for getting your teammates to quiet down so we can take attendance and head outside for football." After flag football I called his parents to tell them about the leadership role he had taken that day at flag football.
