of Genesee County

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER.
A United Way grant of $132,000 helped support the only local program that provides in-home services for low-income, frail elderly. This program provides services valued at $800/month to assist seniors with nutrition, medicine, and daily needs. This assistance allows elderly individuals to continue living independently in their own home instead of housing them in institutions at a cost of $3,750 for Medicare/taxpayer paid housing to $6,000/month for private care.

From the Desk of our 2009 Campaign Chair!

It’s my honor to serve as the 2009 Campaign Chair for the United Way of Genesee County. Our United Way is addressing today’s immediate basic needs, while focusing on long-term solutions. Helping families on the road to financial stability, provides a sense of accomplishment and makes it easier for them to be self-supporting.  Focusing on childhood education ensures that children grow up to be productive and contributing members of our community.  And, supporting those who have basic needs is just the right thing to do.

Together, with the collective contributions of our donors, volunteers, businesses and community and agency partners, we are able to identify the underlying causes of problems and develop solutions that positively impact the lives of children, older adults and families.

It is even more important this year to support the United Way of Genesee County. While the problems facing our families and neighbors are more complex and harder to solve, the solutions are effective and improve the quality of life of the residents who live in Genesee County.

This is why “LIVING UNITED” is an opportunity for all us, together, to inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow. It encompasses more than just your annual pledge to United Way. It focuses on promoting the greater good.

As the 2009 United Way Campaign Chair, I ask you to join me and make our United Way your charity of choice and give from your heart.
