Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for United Way of Genesee County funding, an organization or agency/program MUST:
- Be recognized under section 501 (c) 3 or equivalent of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) code for a minimum of three years;
- Be a health or human service organization (no funding is provided to individuals);
- Serve the residents of Genesee County and may not proselytize or require adherence to religious beliefs or practices, not a declaration of same as a condition of service;
- Be governed by a volunteer board of directors;
- Subscribe to the United Way of Genesee County’s Standards and Practices; and
- Sign a Partnership Contract Agreement.
Standards and Practices
To be compliant with United Way of Genesee County, Organizations or agency/program WILL:
- Have a mission that is compatible wit the mission of the United Way of Genesee County to: “Unite People, Develop Resources and Create Solutions”;
- Observe the non-discrimination policies of the laws, statutes and ordinances of all governmental jurisdictions; and commit to value, champion and embrace diversity in all aspects of activities and respect others;
- Meet the highest standards of performance, quality, service and achievement of outcomes;
- Demonstrate fiscal integrity and viability;
- Communicate honestly, openly and avoid misrepresentation.
Accountability Compliance Standards
To be eligible for continuation funding consideration organizations and agencies/programs MUST annually meet accountability compliance standards:
- Demonstrate fiscal integrity/viability
- Provide full disclosure of finances including current audit or legal financial statement and IRS form 990,
- Provide documentation on how the United Way of Genesee County funding partnership will leverage funds or additional non-financial resources into the community.
- Provide full disclosure and documentation of outcome evaluation progress;
- Avoid any activity which conflicts or appears to conflict with the best interest of United Way of Genesee County; and
- Adhere to all terms of the Partnership Contract Agreement.
