Largest Afterschool Collaborative in the Nation
Bridges to the Future is the largest after school collaborative in the nation. This program keeps 17,160 children (K-9) in 106 schools, 1,472 different classes, in all 21 Genesee County School Districts involved, not home alone or on the streets. Bridges to the Future is a county-wide partnership between United Way of Genesee County, the Flint Community Schools, the Genesee Intermediate School District and the County's additional 20 school districts. Bridges is an adaptive youth development program. It reinforces the fundamentals learned during the school day and provides fun and creative learning experiences. Project SKIP to a Great Start
Successful Kids = Involved Parents
Project SKIP focuses on children prenatal to Kindergarten age and their parents. A county-wide multi-collaborative whose partners include: The Genesee Intermediate School District, Priority Children, Flint Community Schools, all 21 Genesee County School Districts, multiple government and non-profit agencies and Federal, State, Foundation, United Way of Genesee County, and Corporate funding. Over 4,200 Genesee County families and 10,568 children have benefitted from this program.
Prescription Assistance Program
With a $50,000 grant from United Way of Genesee County, this program was started to help over 60,000 uninsured and underinsured in Genesee County with prescription costs. So far this program has obtained desperately needed medication with a retail value of nearly over $1,000,000 for 595 individuals in this community. Fiduciary Services
United Way of Genesee County saves local programs more than $75,000 a year by serving as fiduciary for five human service programs in our community; Weed & Seed Project Safe Neighborhoods, Child Advocacy Center of Genesee County, Keep Genesee County Beautiful, and Flint Funders Collaborative.
