Learning Guide Positions
Job Description
Learning guides will work directly with after school students, providing support with day school and after school lessons and homework. Additionally, they will provide students with positive relationship building techniques and provide supervision and instruction on a variety of educational and recreational activities. Guides will also participate in extensive professional development, which will help them increase their knowledge of student learning and management.
Learning Guides Must
- Commit to understand the children and the communities in which they live.
Work respectfully with students, parents, co-workers and their community.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents and co-workers.
- Be committed to the Bridges program outcomes
- Have the ability to critique their teaching performance and a willingness to employ new instructional methods
- Develop and implement challenge and project based activities with students.
- Dress appropriately and demonstrate positive social skills as leaders of young children
- Have a willingness to actively develop, enhance and refine the skill sets necessary to help students in their academic, social, physical and emotional growth.
Work Schedule
Learning guides will be working with groups of 10 to 12 students and be required to work 3 ½ hours daily, Monday through Thursday. Guides will be required to attend professional development sessions every other Friday for 2-4 hours. Programs will be run afterschool at the selected school sites.
Qualifications
All applicants must have a high school diploma, college experience preferred. Applicants must submit a resume that details work and educational experience as well as a letter of application and the following questionaire.
