About the Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps AmeriCorps Program

Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps AmeriCorps members centers, health clinics, and literacy centers. In addition, serve, through host sites, residents affected by the water crisis to assist them in key areas of recovery. Those areas are: 1. Food security and nutrition; 2. Behavioral and Developmental Health; 3. Early Education; 4. Medical Management and ; 5. Crime prevention.

Members serve in conjunction with community organizations including community development corporations, local nonprofits, church organizations, education outreach, members are responsible for planning and executing a number of both small and large-scale events that support and further the Program’s mission; these events will be designed in conjunction with the host site, the member, and the Program Manager. Members will present on all program areas covered under the Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps (FUSHC) umbrella. Each organization will receive the support of the member based on the organization’s needs, and the member’s skill-set, so in many ways this program is tailored to fit specific needs of differing organizations with the talent pool of the service members.

Qualified candidates will:

  • Have an interest in helping communities/neighborhoods/residents
  • Commitment to 6 or 12 months of service
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Flint-based candidates are highly encouraged to apply
