Health

FACT:  $108,588 is the average annual cost for a person living in a private nursing home. Many families have to make difficult choices about senior care for their loved ones.

Youth Violence Prevention
Focus on prevention and early intervention of youth violence including bullying and criminal acts.

Senior Independence
Seniors (age 62 & over) access programs that improve quality of life; providing them with enrichment opportunities.

Health Access
Low-to-moderate income individuals receive physical health services. 

 

Education

FACT:  60% of students are not proficient in Grade 3 English Language Arts, an important indicator of future success.

Early Childhood Literacy & Parental Involvement
Children (ages 0-8) access early learning literacy programs that promote success from parents, advocates and mentors.

Afterschool & Mentoring
Students access high quality, enriching programs which are aligned with school-day curriculum.

 

Financial Stability

FACT:  30% of local children under 18 are living in poverty.  

Financial Independence & Education
Low-to-moderate income individuals participate in financial independence and education activities to achieve increased assets and decreased liabilities.

 

Basic Needs

FACT:  3,400 people in Genesee County are homeless - many of which are children.

Emergency Support Services
Genesee and Shiawassee County residents access emergency disaster relief, financial assistance, food and shelter needs.
