Stamp Out Hunger - Letter Carrier's Food Drive!

Did you know that approximately 55% of children enrolled in public schools ACROSS Genesee County qualify for free and reduced priced meals served in their schools?  Over 37,000 children across Genesee County eat breakfast and/or lunch provided at their schools.  A growing number of children in Genesee County are also recipients of participating schools “back Pack” program.  A backpack of nutritional food items is given to qualifying students each Friday to supplement them over the weekend.

Many parents are considered the “working poor”, working for low and inadequate wages thus, making paying for the most basic of basic needs a constant struggle.  No parent wants their child to wake up to an empty cereal bowl.  No parent wants their child to go to bed hungry.  Unfortunately, this is a reality many families face in our community.

You can help by participating in the Letter Carriers Food Drive on May 13th.  All across America, people like yourself will be contributing to our country’s largest “one day food drive”.  Your letter carrier is asking for you to place non-perishable food items in or near your mailboxes for them to pick up to help stock the local Food Bank and pantries.  Together, you and your letter carrier can make a difference in helping feed children in need all across our county.
