The Office
Located in the Plaza One Building in downtown Flint, our office is steps away from diverse eateries, arts, culture, universities and the nationally recognized Flint Farmers Market.  Throughout the year many events and festivals including the Crim Festival of Races and Back to the Bricks take place right outside our door.  Inside, our office is an inspiring place to work with murals by local artists and views of downtown.

Reading Corps

Serving in 9 FCS elementary buildings, Reading Corps tutors connect with at-risk K-3 students to provide literacy instruction. Over the course of the school year, students in the program receive 20 minutes of one-on-one tutoring five days per week in their own school. Through time and effort, students are placed on the path to proficiency by 3rd grade.

Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint Academic Success VISTA

The Academic Success VISTA will serve at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and will be responsible for addressing the educational needs and success of Club members between the ages of 7 to 17.

The Program and Community Engagement VISTA member will work to improve the program and community engagement in the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint, and will engage Club member ages 7-17.

FoodCorps 

FoodCorps members connect kids to healthy food in school, so they can lead healthier lives and reach their full potential. AmeriCorps members support school gardens and deliver programs in schools focusing on hands-on lessons, healthy school meals, and a school-wide culture of health.

Flint Urban Safety Corps

Serving along the University Avenue Corridor, Flint Urban Safety Corps AmeriCorps members implement activities related to crime prevention/reduction, blight elimination, and community building, including board-ups and clean-ups, engaging neighborhood groups, forming radio patrols & bike watch groups, and engaging neighborhood volunteers.

Flint Recovery Corps

Flint Recovery Corps members will provide direct service support to Flint-area organizations that are providing wrap-around service for Flint families affected by the water crisis. Full-time and half-time members will support services in the areas of food access and nutrition, behavioral and developmental health, medical management, and early education.

City of Flint

Serving to implement Flint’s Master Plan, City of Flint VISTA members support neighborhoods, recruit and manage volunteers, build capacity for parks, promote the Blue Badge community policing volunteer program and the community service centers, and otherwise engage residents in Master Plan implementation.

College Advising Corps

College Advising Corps works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented high school students who enter and complete higher education. Members provide the support that high-need students require to navigate the complex processes of college admissions and matriculation and securing financial aid.

Coach Across America/Up2Us Coach

Coaches instruct students in sports-based youth development, brain breaks, and mentoring. Coach Across America is based on a simple premise: Highly trained coaches can be the most transformative adults in young people's lives and can inspire their success on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
